I'm excited to finally get on the road. There were days of purging, donating, and planning that it felt like I would never actually pull it off and make it out of the driveway. The first leg of the drive was about 375 miles & a little over 6 hours.

Scenic Viewpoint near Ellensburg, WA

Driving the van (the Toller Roller) is surprisingly comfortable if it's not too windy. I am making peace with the cruise control. I hate the feeling of not controlling the speed of a vehicle, but I'd also like my ankles not to look like watermelons when I arrive at a destination. Maximizing cruise control and foot tapping to the radio seems to help quite a bit. Different story in the wind. Then we're rolling in the truck lane...

May 11, 2019 - A great park for a stopover.

We made it into the park a little after 6pm, I think. By the time we finally got settled down to decide whether it was time to go to bed, it was already after 9pm.

Sitting pretty in front of the covered wagon display.

We settled down to bed early compared to our normal pattern, but late for a road trip. I didn't sleep great. Excitement, location, planning, wondering if all my equipment would keep working correctly, etc. were all still bouncing around in my head. I set my alarm for 6am to beat the crowd to the showers, but woke up around 5:30am. At least I didn't have to wait for a shower! Also nice not to have to plug quarters into a machine to keep the water hot! There was still snow on the ground and it looked like they were still working on spring cleanup before the summer season. It was quiet, small, convenient, and the showers were clean and private. I was really pleased with our first night on the road. We hit the road just about 8:00am
